Designed in Australia, these beautiful, eco friendly wooden toys are based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Steiner believed and encouraged children to play using their imagination which is an important part of a child's early development.
Lichee Toys are all handmade using sustainable and recycled timbers in Vietnam. The timber used is mainly from recycled lychee trees from old orchards (hence the name) Other timbers used in making the toys include acacia, surplus wood from mills and other fruit and nut trees.
The toys are hand crafted in fair trade conditions and the workshop employs many people from the local village giving them opportunity and improving their quality of life. The people are like our second family and we visit often.
There is no right or wrong way to play with these toys - the children will express their own feelings, use their imagination and create their own stories. The lovely texture and smell of the timber brings children back to playing with natural toys.
It is important for children to play with toys that are simple and unsophisticated so that their creative impulse is awakened. These early play experiences will reflect later in life in the way they think and apply themselves.
The Lichee Toy gnomes do not have faces on the them so that the children can create their own stories. Children learn through play and play reflects what children already know, observe and have tried.
Lichee toys are finished with toxic free child safe finishes and have been tested for Toy Safety Standards for Australia, Europe & America.
